“What’s the Matter?” Review for Test
The following material will be on the Science Test on Thursday, April 23.
- Know the definitions of the following vocabulary:
- mass
- volume
- properties (all three)
- matter
- physical change
- chemical change
- gas
- liquid
- solid
- melting
- freezing
- evaporation
- condensation
2. Explain the properties of liquids, solids, and gasses: (shape, mass, and volume)
3. Fill in the following:
Change of State
|
What Happens
|
Melting
|
solid changes to liquid
|
Evaporation
| |
Condensation
| |
Freezing
|
4. Give examples of the different changes of state
ie: butter warming in a frying pan
5. Define physical and chemical changes. Give an example of each.
6. Know that the most effective way to change state is by changing temperature. Give an example.
7. Study your changing state worksheet on temperature of steam and water. Know the evaporation/condensation/melting and freezing points.
