Ugh, I am struggling with losing this phenomenal group of kids...but as they say, "The show must go on!"
The Grade 5s presented their fractured fairytale plays that they independently wrote, directed, and starred in, with no assistance. There were a few hiccups along the way, with some kids absent, and some stepping in and taking over, but overall the performances were great! I am so proud of them for working together on their own and creating a product that they can be proud of.
The dances were awesome too! I love watching the kids embrace their creativity, and step out of their comfort zone. Life is so much better when you are having FUN!!
The visit from the Mayor was spectacular. Photos are below. Regardless of our political beliefs or opinions, Mayor Dilkens was very professional and took the students so seriously. He treated them just as he would any of his constituents. Councillor Francis was just as wonderful with the kids. The kids were extremely serious, and Mayor Dilkens said "Wow, the students at Christ the King were the most polite and asked the most serious questions." CBC News was there to report...and WE MADE IT ON THE 5 o'CLOCK NEWS!!!
